The extent of the disaster
The motifs of „The extent oft he disaster“ refer to press photos published after the tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan.
The artistic technique is based on the traditional Japanese color wood printing technique. The series consists of printing blocks and prints. Blocks as well as prints change through the printing process. Depending on the time, the printing blocks are sometimes lush, sometimes washed out and sometimes freshly cut. The ongoing work is assembled to a wall-mounted installation.
In a long-term artistic study, a growing overall picture emerges, aiming to question the volatility and repression in the media and in public consciousness.
